Land Rover enthusiasts Claire Bird and Steph Lewis are both taking on a gruelling journey following the route of the Great Wall of China, on foot!
Coincidently, although the two know each other and share an interest in Land rovers and Over-landing they conceived and committed to the China trek independently, only to discover they would be covering the same route with different teams just a day apart from one another. Their purpose is shared however and both aim to raise as much as possible for their nominated charity causes. Claire is supporting Loros hospice and Steph, Children's Hospices UK. To find out more about their challenge, the route and of course the charities both have websites at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/claireschinatrek and http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/StephLewis respectively.
Although Skytag has an already established history of tracking in the remote region, Claire has kindly agreed to taking on a little ‘research’ for us along the way. Claire will be wearing Skytag’s latest personal tracker watch for the duration of her trek which will allow us to provide updates of her progress on a dedicated web portal which can be viewed at here.
The device which is in its final stages of development will be available to purchase in the third quarter of 2012. There is already considerable interest in the device, especially among organisations concerned with the care of some of the most vulnerable people in society. The device which is compact, simple and highly accurate will bring huge increase to patient safety, particularly those suffering with Alzheimer’s or others at risk of becoming lost or disoriented for other reasons.
Please note - Any links to 'Past events' live tracking will be dead or invalid once the event is completed.
